Language grow, develop, and decline (bahasa tumbuh, berkembang dan merosot).
  • Grow = when learning the language from birth to children age by mimicry and imitate.
  • Develop = when using the language itself
  • Decline = in elderly 
Some features of human language:
  • Arbitrariness (tidak dapat diprediksi). There is no relation between language and meaning. 
  • Productivity (terus berproduksi). Human language create words, phrases and sentences. 
  • Cultural transmission (transmisi budaya). Language can transmit culture to a new generation. 
  • Duality (berstruktur ganda). Language has 2 systems: sound and meaning. 
  • Discreteness (berlainan). Human language can be used to express different meaning and different words.
  • Displacement (berjauhan). Language can express what happened in the past, present, and future.
  • Vocal auditory channel. Human language that used in communication generally spoken oral. 
  • Social phenomenon. Human language can be used to express social interaction in society or community. 
  • Reflexiveness. Human language that is used to express idea or feeling. Language itself. 
  • Communication. Human language is used to express/deliver information. 
The difference of social phenomenon and cultural transmission

Transmission of cuture is also occured in social phenomenon but in small scale than cultural transmission.
